Tools and Equipment to Get You Started in Scrapbooking

There are loads of specialised tools such as heating and embossing tools, or sticker makers and some of them will be worth the investment if your scrapbooking hobby becomes a long-term interest.

 

If you are hesitant to buy an expensive tool, rather join a scrapbooking class, and there you will usually get to try out the various tools in question, then you can make up your mind whether or not the specific piece of equipment will be a worthwhile buy.
 Whenever possible, purchase good quality tools and equipment, so that they will last you for years to come. 

 Note that cutting paper can dull a scissors blades, so keep a separate pair for cutting of fabric.
 These should have a narrow tip to enable you to get into those hard to reach places.
 Choose a soft B pencil so that the marks can be erased easily.




 
A decent craft knife with a supply of replacement blades is essential.




A bone folder is another great tool to keep on hand, as it helps you to score card stock for folding.




A selection of glues is also a must.
 A glue pen is great for all those hard to reach places.



 
Punches and eyelet setters are also useful tools to have.
 With an eyelet punch, you will be able to make a hole anywhere on your page. 

 In this way you can use the punch to make a hole for your eyelet as well as set the eyelets within the layout. 

 Another cheaper option is to use your setting mat and a hammer to punch holes with various the eyelet setters that you can purchase separately.


 

Double sided tape is another must have for all types of sticking jobs on different surfaces.




Adhesive dots are another great way to stick down all those small bits and pieces in a convenient and mess free way. 

 For one it protects your work surface, and they are available in loads of different sizes.
